I had a (not entirely pleasant) dream

You must have had this experience. Sleeping in a different hotel bed and your sleep is disturbed by disturbing dreams. It happened to me the night before last. It seemed to me that I experienced several near-miss car accidents where the vehicle in front stops suddenly for no apparent reason and you screech to a halt just before you collide. Brrrr! Disconcerting.

Of course dreams are never simple, but I really do hope that no part of this was a premonition!

Back in the swim at last.

Isn't it funny how things get in the way? I try to establish regular plans which will make "good things" habitual. This weekend I realised that the recent disruption of moving to another customer has disturbed two such plans:

Well, I'm back doing both of them now (and long may it remain so).

The new North-West office is ok. I'm getting used to the area and the people. The biggest problem I have is that there seems to be a long-running problem with communication between there and their site in the Home Counties (if you're reading this from outside the UK, that's the area in the South East of England, around London). And by communications, I don't mean digital, over broadband. It's not something it's easy to put your finger on, but I'd really like to get to the bottom of it (if you will excuse the frantically mixed metaphors).

Basically, the real, business customer is up here in the North-West and the Development Team is down in "the Home Counties". One is tempted to say "and never the twain shall meet", but that just isn't true. People do make the journey in both directions. Despite that I feel a great deal of tension between the two parties. Watch this space and I'll see how things develop.

Oh to be in Ireland!
