Canned turkey for Christmas anyone?

Only two more days to go before I depart on my Christmas vacation and I got a bit of a surprise this morning. The job I'm working on is associated (I can't really put it any stronger than that) with a larger re-development project. The larger project has certainly had its problems, and some late-comers like myself think that the underlying system has some fundamental flaws (which I won't go into here). I'm an optimist, and think that these "flaws" are worth overcoming but some others have described this re-development as a "turkey".

(By now you must see where this is heading)Anyway, like many projects, it has had its problems, but I think most people thought that the were in the past and that it was going to make it over the finish line. Obviously the business sponsor didn't agree, because on Friday they decided to "pause development" and re-assess the whole thing. Has it been canned? I really don't know, and I don't think anyone else does. What I do know is that there is going to be a prettty uncertain start to the new year.

If you are taking a break, make sure you enjoy it!

Trying to be in three places takes your mind off...

...blogging. The period between the last entry and this one has been a little busy. The good news is, that at long last, I've installed a new computer at home. Perhaps that will make the maintenance of my (very limited) presence on the internet a little easier. This is the first entry written with the new machine.

I've got myself involved with quite a task. How do you get two groups of people to communicate, when they are nearly 300 miles apart and don't want to communicate? I pose this as a rhetorical question but if anyone has any suggestions I'd be happy to receive them.

The details of the situation are hard to explain. I think the answer is to get them to agree on some common goal. The problem is that they ought to have one already but that doesn't seem to have done the trick.

Still, I'll get back to it again tomorrow.
